Description:

A remake of Doom 1's E1M2, done in the style of Doom 2's MAP02 :)

There will be considerably more detail and better lighting than either of the maps it's inspired by, and the difficulty level will be cranked up a few notches too.

Don't worry if anyone of the shots seem to dark, as I'm currently playing around with the light levels. For the most part they'll be implements of 8 rather than 16, so it should look very nice in ZDoom ;)

Oh and yes, that is a fancy pseudo-3D effect in the 3rd shot...

PS this wad is quite low on my list of priorities, so it may not be finished for some time.

The light level is perfect. Apart from that, this is simply a superior rehash of Doom 2's Underhalls (map 02). I feel little inclination to keep on playing variants of the same decade old maps.

The fakie 3d-effect looks cool. Reminds me of GothicDM. I don't get what's cool about the ceiling on Screen 2. I suggest You put some lamps, or other textures on it. With it textured in same stuff as the ceiling It feels bit monotonous.

Yo deathz0r I had Nightmares nb_e1m01.zip on my comp and totally forgot about it and no I never did play it until just now. Thanks for teh reminder, heh. Twas a pretty cool little map Nightmare and now I look forward to this E1 MAP02. :)

Nmn: actually i've used a couple of the ASHWALL textures and flats on it now and it looks much better:)

Tormentor667: it's the same effect I included as part of my Boom tricks wad, which you can find here. In that wad the effect is on the floor, but as you can see it's quite possible to do it on the ceiling too.

As for a megawad... well I was just thinking how similar E1M8 and MAP08 are stylistically, so an E1 MAP08 would be pretty pointless. I may therefore have to stop at E1 MAP07 ;) Regardless, that'd be way off in the future...

I'm sorry you feel that I'm being too negative, but I think I've given a lot of positive comments, and I have said very little that isn't constructive (in my opinion). Seriously though, the darkest sector visible in that shot is 112. The "water tunnel" part of Doom 2 map02 is the same, and that doesn't have lots of lighting effects to brighten it up in places.
