the title had me thinking something more along the lines of thief.

oh well.

Gee_Dawgg writes:(new) 05.06.2005, 22:46 GMT+1

First shot looks like a Half-Life Mod..... Amazing. Good job.

evilhomerdoomer writes:(new) 06.06.2005, 15:26 GMT+1

Yeah, a half-life 2 mod. God job as usual sitters! :D

Let's not go crazy! :P ;D

evilhomerdoomer writes:(new) 07.06.2005, 11:04 GMT+1

Heh, I was just making a compliment ;D

Anyways, Sitters, this is easily the best looking city map I've ever seen for Doom and it does seem to have a Half-Life 2 feel. The architecture feels similar.

sitters writes:(new) 07.06.2005, 18:40 GMT+1
edited 07.06.2005, 18:41 GMT+1

Thanks everybody, Yes I am trying to make a little bit a half life 2 feeling, but it is of course the doomsday engine , so the level is playing doom2 in a half life world feeling.

Greetings.

eah I agree with evilhomerdoomer on that this is one of the best-looking city maps for Doom. It'll be interesting to see just how much of Half-Life/Half-Life-2 you can throw into this! :D

But I don't like the street lights that much. They look/feel lifeless.

sitters writes:(new) 08.06.2005, 09:20 GMT+1

Yeah I agree, I am still changing a lot, and when I am satisfy with it, I update the screens.

Greetings

Gee_Dawgg writes:(new) 08.06.2005, 21:21 GMT+1

Great. I'm really looking forward to this (eventhough I can't run Doomsday on this PC) :( ....

BTW don't you have a website/webpage for this project?

sitters writes:(new) 09.06.2005, 00:58 GMT+1

Yes I have :

MR.INSANE writes:(new) 09.06.2005, 19:02 GMT+1

looks good but it is in no way better than doomcity by xerxes

sitters writes:(new) 09.06.2005, 22:06 GMT+1

I donít want to make a better wads then someone else.
I make the wads in the first place for myself and I like nice graphics.

Greetings.

Gee_Dawgg writes:(new) 09.06.2005, 22:27 GMT+1

Yeah, this is not to be compared with other works. And even if it were, in some ways this is actually looking better than Xerxes' DoomCity. Of course I haven't seen too many screenshots of DoomCity, but still....

BTW this is looking better and better. The new shots are even more beautiful than the first batch. Why don't you just go all out and make this a full on "Half-Life 2 for Doomsday" mod or something?! I mean you could just make it look and feel like Half-Life 2 as much as possible and maybe fool a few people. You're already between a quarter of the way and half-way there! :P Now add more detail and more realistic lighting and a better list-environment...! :P

sitters writes:(new) 09.06.2005, 23:33 GMT+1

Thanks

Now I must be carefully placing the dynamic lightning, I also want to make a lot of inside rooms in this level, but when I use to much detail and lightning, the map is going to lag.
I hope that before the map is ready the next release of doomsday with bias lightning is there, then the speed is boosting up and the possibilities are much larger.

Greetings.

Nmn writes:(new) 10.06.2005, 14:13 GMT+1

Nice shots Sit. You luckily captured the dimensions well so Doomguy doesn't feel like 4 inches :)

Gee_Dawgg writes:(new) 10.06.2005, 19:57 GMT+1

I saw the other couple shots or so on your site as well. Very nice. I'm really looking forward to where you can take this mod. 'cuz as it is it's very interesting looking. Oh, and also, I 2nd what NMN said! ;P

sitters writes:(new) 11.06.2005, 11:20 GMT+1

Thanks, I am still changing the environment till I am happy with it, this must become a very nice looking level.

bryant robinson writes:(new) 12.06.2005, 22:04 GMT+1

Its about time somebody made a decent looking city. Very nice

evilhomerdoomer writes:(new) 13.06.2005, 12:24 GMT+1

Just a note, wouldn't the Doom monsters look a bit "bland" and dull in this awesome environment?

Nmn writes:(new) 13.06.2005, 15:53 GMT+1

That's just what I tought...

sitters writes:(new) 13.06.2005, 21:52 GMT+1

What I have in mind is that your only fight with solders. I make them very strong and maybe I give them new skins ( Iíd still thinking about it ).

Greetings.

Gee_Dawgg writes:(new) 13.06.2005, 23:42 GMT+1

I agree with them. EVen if you use just the "soldiers", at least for goodness'-sake use new skins.... ;D :P

dethtoll writes:(new) 14.06.2005, 04:26 GMT+1

don't make them strong. that would suck. lots of health is no replacement for doom-era AI.

if you must, give some of them heavy weapons, but they should still die easily- like maybe 5 dead-on bullets for example.

evilhomerdoomer writes:(new) 14.06.2005, 09:56 GMT+1

Or a full sinlge shotgun round. I'm sure sitters will find an excellent way to pull this off ;)

sitters writes:(new) 14.06.2005, 20:27 GMT+1

Iíd thinking of modelling a new solder, it is a lot of work. But I think if I can make the level like my idea, without doomsday lag to much ( thatís always the trouble with doomsday, to make a big wad.) , then I do it.

Greetings.

evilhomerdoomer writes:(new) 15.06.2005, 15:02 GMT+1

Yays! A new model monster!

sitters writes:(new) 16.06.2005, 16:11 GMT+1

Yeah I make a new monster, be course I split up the level in more maps, so the lag is then no problem any more. No megawad but a miniwad.

greetings.

evilhomerdoomer writes:(new) 18.06.2005, 16:06 GMT+1

These new screens are awesome sitters!

Kristus writes:(new) 19.06.2005, 16:35 GMT+1

Add some height variation in the houses. They all have the same.

Blizzardson writes:(new) 24.06.2005, 00:39 GMT+1

damn this looks like counter-strike !
excellent job dude, even i had an idea of creating realistic objects such as :
mail bus, cars, lights or Power lines :D

Blizzardson writes:(new) 24.06.2005, 00:51 GMT+1

hmm ik weet wel eens ding zeker dat ik wel veel uit u ervaringen van leren,
hmm ik zit trouwen altijd vast met die 3d model problemen 't is da

sitters writes:(new) 24.06.2005, 14:06 GMT+1

Thanks,

Deze modellen zijn niet zo moeilijk en gemaakt met wings3d, milkshape3d, mdl.exe ( freeware en shareware ) en photoshop for the skins.

This models are not hard to make, they are so low poly as possible. Be course I donít like the map is going to lag.

Greetings.

Edit : now I am starting to make map02.

dethtoll writes:(new) 24.06.2005, 19:03 GMT+1

heh, the textures in that new first shot remind me of HL2.

Agent Spork writes:(new) 24.06.2005, 20:04 GMT+1

That's probably because they ARE from Half-Life 2.

Blizzardson writes:(new) 24.06.2005, 20:32 GMT+1

weetje iets waarmee ik counter strike modelen kan transformeren in Md2 modellen?

Nmn writes:(new) 24.06.2005, 21:01 GMT+1

But they are put to great use nonetheless.

evilhomerdoomer writes:(new) 25.06.2005, 06:15 GMT+1

Well, like I said at the start, It looks like a hl2 mod! These new screens are getting better and better sitters, awesome stuff! :)

I can't wait to get my hands on this one!

dethtoll writes:(new) 25.06.2005, 07:40 GMT+1

spork: funny, isn't there an argument over doom 3 textures over in the baptised in blood thread?

sitters writes:(new) 25.06.2005, 10:28 GMT+1

Thanks everybody,

Blizzardson no I donít know a program to convert models from counter strike, Models I make them almost always myself ( sometimes I use free models ), be course the models are so depending on the theme of the wad they arenít there , and they must work very well with doomsday ( low poly). And I like to make them.

And dethtoll it was a little discussion about the textures no big deal.

I have download very nice plug ins for Photoshop and when Lost City is ready. I going to experimenting, making photos, and making my one textures, for real world levels.
And maybe if I like drawing textures, I going to make them also.
But on this moment I have fun with models and levels for doomsday, Its all about having a good time in your spare time, be course it is a hobby and a hobby must be fun and no frustration.

Greetings.

Nmn writes:(new) 25.06.2005, 10:40 GMT+1

Unbelievable how people are easily anticapating :) IMO, Baptised in Blood used the D3 textures to spice normal, average looking maps. Here however, rips (mixed with original stuff) becomes an integrated part of the map. BIB may function without the D3 texts spice, but Lost City could not.

sitters writes:(new) 25.06.2005, 12:03 GMT+1

Yes you right Nmn, but you must also give people the time to learn making stuff for the maps, it is a long process.
For me personal I want to make better and better maps, so I need more and more stuff for my maps ( models etc.), and when I am out creating other games feelings, then Iíd creating new map stiles and feelings that no exists. Then I have the need for new textures and starting to make them. So the final result is a brand new map with only original graphics and models.
But that cost time.
In the time you want reached that level, you must have positive pushes to go on, and that is what the forums do, with positive and negative critics. Everybody want to use original stuff for the levels, but you must have the talent and the skill and the time to learn them.

Greetings.

Did I say that I have a problem with sitters using HL2 textures? No, I didn't. In fact, I rip textures from a lot of games myself, so why would I be complaining about the fact that somebody is using HL2 textures?

Blizzardson writes:(new) 25.06.2005, 12:33 GMT+1

Hey dat is nog eens goed strak gezegt!,in a hobby you got to have fun in it and no frustration ;)

Zo moet dat! (that's how it's)

ok,dacht het al dat die models in low poly zouden moet zijn,
want anders zouden ze voor niks md3,md4 en md5 versies maken,
okť 't is genoteerd ;)

Blizzardson als lostcity klaar is dan heb je zo'n 50 modellen die je kunt gebruiken, en bekijken hoe het een en ander in elkaar zit.

greetings.

Edit: in english after Lost City you have 50 ( on this moment ) models, you can use to learn.

Blizzardson writes:(new) 25.06.2005, 13:32 GMT+1

goh,bedankt
tuurlijk daarmee kan ik veel uit leren

evilhomerdoomer writes:(new) 25.06.2005, 14:43 GMT+1

ok people, please lets not turn this into another argument. .

Oh, and good job with those poles. They look very realistic. :)

dethtoll writes:(new) 25.06.2005, 19:57 GMT+1

no need to jump all over me spork, i was just making a comment.

Blizzardson writes:(new) 25.06.2005, 23:08 GMT+1

echt schitteren werk,nu dat ik overna denk,
echt iets voor een stad level like maken, zoals die levels in dukenukem matahattan project enz...

ik zou die modellen heel goed gebreuken voor mijn voorgeplande city levels ;)
