Description:

Respawned: Back from Hell is a vanilla Doom 2 project with focus on single player and cooperative play. This is a semi-megawad with 12 maps. I attempted to create a set of levels where every map is different from the other, and yet where type of play maintains consistency. It's a classic travel through levels which are non-linear but simple to navigate at the same time. Moments where players find themselves confused as to where they should go next should be rare. Difficulty levels are also implemented. Ultra-Violence not only gives you more monsters to fight but also less medikits and less ammo. I try to be as skimp with ammunition as possible without making the game tedious or the difficulty unfair and annoying. Theme is hellish and consists of flesh, cave, temple and catacombs levels. Action in final levels takes place in outdoor and base areas. Every map can be played in a cooperative game with no risk of players' deaths blocking other players from completing the level. There's also one gimmick level where players are given no weapons and must beat the level by causing infights (MAP07).

What can we expect in the monstercount per map department (-100; 150-200; ...)?

This depends on the map, but on average it's 180-200 monsters. One map has almost 300, but there's also one that has 120. I don't count MAP01 and MAP07 which are shorter than others and have less than 50 monsters.

Well I am just finished with it. It is excellent. I rarely say this but, I died a few times (On UV with Brutal Doom; nice challenge). There's an evil surprise every now and then to screw you and mess with your life :) Everything works well appart a place in map 4 (maybe, near the exit with many colored keys needed) where I was stuck between a dead Mancubus and an uneven red lava floor. It might never happen again.

This is already excellent at this stage. I wonder how it'll turn out. Keep on and I hope you complete this into an even bigger Megawad :)

Thanks for the comments. I'm already receiving some more input from other people and maps are getting improvements. Some traps will be less evil, as too many people complained. I've also extended MAP01 a bit. There will also be more detail in some places and I decided to be less skimp on SSG ammo.

I'm not sure how you can get stuck on a dead mancubus. Maybe that's a Brutal Doom thing.

As I read you, I will keep this EVIL version of your wad as I felt it was awesome like that. And for the pussies, they always can retreat in the lower difficulty levels; I mean, I am on UV with Brutal Doom and it felt good. And they complain about hard traps on skill 1 with "vanilla" monsters ?

You're good. I would let it be, rough, just the way it is. UV means Ultra Violence after all ... not Hurt Me in the Park

I don't know if you got caught in it, but there's a group of nasty hidden teleporters in MAP04 (the cave map) that can teleport you right in the middle of the army of revenants if you're unlucky. It turns out it wasn't that hard to be unlucky and that's what people complained the most about.

Some gameplay changes: additional monsters, less ammunition on UV, especially on maps MAP07+. There's also another version (not yet available on Doomworld) that fixes one spot on MAP09 where player can get stuck.
