The central theme of this TC will be the Robotech anime series, more specifically centered on the first generation (Macross). The storyline of the TC will follow the series, from the first few episodes up to the point where the main fleet of the zentraedi arrive to attack earth. You don't have to know anything about Robotech to enjoy the TC though :)

You can expect to see:
- Real time messages from various characters giving you advice, orders and information.
- Other Veritechs to team up with you and help you on some missions.
- Various different environments including Macross city, Mars(low gravity), Zentraedi ships, and deep Space (zero gravity)
- Three modes for your Veritech: Battloid, Guardian and Fighter, with Seeker missiles that home in on a moving enemy

I am hoping to squeeze Edge for all it's worth with this TC.

Update 12 Oct 2007:
Released a WIP of this TC: you can download it from http://mods.moddb.com/452/robotech-firstgen/downloads/

interesting...good lord this is so wierd, i was so desperate for some robotech last night, haven't seen a bit for years. anyway, this looks and sounds very interesting. i'm guessing that the player is supposed to be flying in screenshot 1?

Lobo writes:(new) 30.03.2004, 21:55 GMT+1

He actually IS flying since he's not actually touching the floor although it's not easy to appreciate that in the screenshot.

And its got a bad crouching bug, have to wait for update! Lobo do you need any beta testing help?

Lobo writes:(new) 02.06.2004, 23:09 GMT+1

Not yet man, but thanks for the offer.

BTW, if you want to temporarily get around that crouching bug until the fix comes out, just make your player height(things.ddf) a bit taller.

Lobo writes:(new) 29.08.2004, 01:00 GMT+1

Well I've gotten maps 1 to 4 done now.

Apocsoft writes:(new) 29.08.2004, 11:04 GMT+1

how many maps are you making for this tc? nice one for updating the ddf docs aswell.

Lobo writes:(new) 20.09.2004, 07:35 GMT+1

No problem.

I plan on at least 10 maps, though I have no upper limit yet.

Lobo writes:(new) 04.01.2005, 19:26 GMT+1

Progress is a bit slow since I've gotten side-tracked with my Edge wad-launcher(ESL) again. ESL v2 is available for download BTW :)

I'm going slow with the TC since I'm kinda holding out for the complete Edge 1.29 release (the beta rocks!!) to take full advantage of all the new stuff (Ogg, PNG, RTS menus, Crosshair lock-on, changes in AI etc.)

Apocsoft writes:(new) 06.01.2005, 22:38 GMT+1

Hang on Lobo! you know edge 1.29 is going to rule, and then theres edge 1.30 which is going to be the best....

Nmn writes:(new) 09.01.2005, 14:28 GMT+1

Hey man, I'm interested-are You the main graphic artist for this project? I mean-is most of this stuff done by You? If yes, You have my salute.

Lobo writes:(new) 09.01.2005, 21:51 GMT+1

I'm a one man team so I do everything: maps, sound, textures, sprites, graphics, web : you name it I'm doing it :)

Well, I did get a donation of some textures from another Doomer, but apart from that...

Infurnus writes:(new) 20.01.2005, 10:08 GMT+1

You should make some custom text and hud numbers or something.
Looks nice though.

Lobo writes:(new) 22.01.2005, 23:02 GMT+1

Thanks. Yeah the font will change sooner or later (probably use the Freedoom one) and the HUD will also be changed later on.

Lobo writes:(new) 03.05.2005, 23:40 GMT+1

I really should update those screenies: looks better in EDGE 1.29 now :)

Nmn writes:(new) 04.05.2005, 15:43 GMT+1

Looking forward Dude :) This may be one of the most underestimated wads of all time, excluding Cold as Hell.

Lobo writes:(new) 05.05.2005, 23:49 GMT+1

Thanks man.

Lobo writes:(new) 15.09.2005, 23:05 GMT+1

I'm afraid this baby is going on hold for a while: I'm gonna start dedicating some time to my other project.

patrick writes:(new) 30.10.2005, 17:16 GMT+1

Lobo writes:(new) 09.07.2006, 16:13 GMT+1

Update 12 Oct 2007:
WIP released! http://mods.moddb.com/452/robotech-firstgen/downloads/

This release is a Work In Progress (WIP): What that boils down to is that it is a copy of what I have done up to now and is more of a developer version than anything else. In other words... Expect bugs! Expect rough edges!
I have been working on this project, on my own, since 2001 and unfortunately it shows: you'll notice that some parts look quite dated while other parts will look better. Also, some stuff is the way it is because the EDGE engine couldn't do it any other way back in 2001, though now it's a different story (and hopefully I'll get around to updating that stuff).
If you find bugs please feel free to let me know: I know about a lot of them already but it's nice to compare lists Wink

The future of Robotech: FirstGen
I'm releasing this because I've done almost no work on it for a long time now, and I want it to get out into the public, even if incomplete, in case I never get around to finishing it. Note that I'm not abandoning this project, but I have to be realistic and with every year (year!?) that passes the chances greatly diminish Sad This way at least, the folks who have been following this project will have something to see for all the waiting, patience and support that they have shown me over the years.
